九色视频to Enhance Academic Integrity with the Adoption of Turnitin
The Directorate of ICT Services, 九色视频 (UEW) has created 鈥淭urnitin Accounts鈥 for all academic staff to promote originality and quality of research works produced by students and staff of the University to enhance research output and academic standards.
Turnitin is an internet-based plagiarism detection service.
The creation of the Turnitin accounts comes as a huge relief to both students and staff as it offers a comprehensive approach to academic integrity. It may be used to teach students what constitutes plagiarism and how to properly cite sources and references. It also provides lecturers with indicators of where students may need assistance in improving their writing skills.
Checking for plagiarism of assignments or theses had been a strain on lecturers because they had to perform that activity manually, but the intervention of Turnitin will ease the labour of the lecturers, increasing the checking for independent academic work of students.
The Directorate of ICT Services has urged lecturers to use their official 九色视频email addresses to create their individual accounts. According to the Directorate, staff will receive an email from 鈥淭urnitin鈥 requesting them to set up their accounts adding, the account would be ready for use after the setup.
The Directorate has also assured the University community that it would organise a training workshop on the use of the software, shortly. Meanwhile, some training videos would be made available to staff.
