鈥淲e will deliver to you our brand promise of completeness in training to propel you to become a source of enlightenment to all peoples of our contemporary and future society. Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni indicated that he was impressed with the freshmen鈥檚 meticulous attention to the wearing of the nose mask and their adherence to the COVID-19 safety protocols.聽

鈥淭he ravaging effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have compelled us to organise this year鈥檚 matriculation ceremony for fresh students from various other locations instead of in-person. Be that as it may, it doesn鈥檛 take anything in terms of the importance of the ceremony. In the past few weeks of your studentship, you have shown grit, tenacity, resilience, and hunger to succeed in your academic pursuits,鈥 he extolled.聽

The Vice-Chancellor stressed that UEW, in line with the policy of inclusiveness and creating access for the poor and underprivileged in society, continues to support brilliant but needy students to make their dreams a reality.聽

鈥淭he Vice-Chancellor鈥檚 Scholarship Fund has, over the last few years, reduced significantly the financial burden of a large number of our needy but brilliant students. These offers were made up of 275 renewals and 188 fresh awards. The awards for the 2021 academic year will soon be announced,鈥 he remarked.聽

Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni revealed that Management embarked on a progressive agenda to create a state-of-the-art teaching and learning environment to expand access to the underprivileged, the marginalised, persons living with disabilities, and persons from less endowed schools.聽

鈥淢anagement initiated moves to, in the short term, construct ten new ultra-modern 500-seater lecture theatres in Winneba, a students鈥 centre, and a food court, as well as to facilitate the completion of the Technology Block and renovate the Amu Theatre at Central Campus, Winneba.聽

This one-stop-shop is a centre for leisure and educational excellence, the first of its kind in the country,鈥 he stated.聽

The Vice-Chancellor entreated matriculants to view their matriculation as a journey; a process to develop themselves to impact their lives and that of society in positive ways.聽
