Estate Section Undergoes Training Workshop
The Estate Section in collaboration with the Department of Training and Development under the Division of Human Resource (DHR) on Wednesday, 25th聽November, 2020, organised a training workshop for members of staff in the Estate Section.
The workshop, which took place at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, was on the theme, 鈥樷橶orkplace Health and Safety through Modern Techniques; The Role of the University Janitor鈥欌.
Addressing participants, the Senior Assistant Registrar in Charge of Junior/Senior Staff, DHR, Mr. Charles Denkyi, on behalf of the Registrar, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima Esq., prompted junior staff of the Estate Section never to underestimate their contribution to the University and urged them to build up high self-esteem wherever they find themselves. He said, the University as a whole recognises the value of all departments, and the critical role each plays.
鈥淭he Estate Section is one of the departments that plays a vital role during official University events such as Graduation, Meetings, Matriculation and other events, and therefore, their importance can never be underestimated,鈥 he affirmed. 聽
Mr. Denkyi congratulated staff for their hard work and encouraged them to continue to learn new technologies for the betterment of the University.
The Director of Health Services, Dr. (Mrs.) Beth Offei-Awuku presented on health and safety. She encouraged participants, especially cleaners to continue to dedicate themselves to improving sanitation in the University. 鈥淭his would boost good and healthy living for all in an emotional, mental, environmental, and spiritual ways as cleanliness they say is next to godliness,鈥 she stated.
Dr. (Mrs.) Offei-Awuku continued to urge all estate workers to abide by the rules and regulations of the University and learn new technologies concerning sanitation to enable them to adapt to news styles of janitorial work due to the current rise in infectious diseases like Covid-19 pandemic in Ghana. This would help to eradicate any form of diseases.
Estate Officer, UEW, Mr. John Kweku Oppong applauded all estate workers for the tremendous work done in the University and urged them to do more to improve sanitation. He again encouraged the workers to shine wherever they are in their sanitation works.
He assured that though there are so many challenges that the Section is facing, DHR together with the Estate Section are working hard to resolve the challenges.
At the end of the presentations, participants were presented with certificates of participation.聽
Other dignitaries present were Deputy Registrar, Office of the Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Hagar Bampoe-Addo; and Head of Employee Relations, DHR, Ms. Patricia Kaitoo.
