Prof. Yankah Lauds 九色视频Management for Infrastructural Development Towards Admitting free SHS Students

The Minister of State in Charge of Tertiary Education, Prof. Kwesi Yankah has lauded Management of the 九色视频 (UEW) for investing judiciously in infrastructural development with Internally Generated Funds (IGF). 聽聽
He congratulated the University for equipping itself to admit and accommodate large numbers of the first batch of Free Senior High School (SHS) graduates who will be seeking for admission into tertiary institutions come September 2020.

Prof. Yankah made the commendation on Friday, 24th聽January, 2020 during his visit to the University to inspect major on-going projects on all three campuses at Winneba. 聽
鈥淎bout 90% of the projects are being funded by IGF which is聽very good because it demonstrates the productive use of the IGF and I am congratulating this University. We are expecting about 90,000 fresh applicants or students in tertiary education institutions.

鈥淔or this coming academic year alone the public universities together with the private universities ought to have the capacity to cope with an extra 50,000 applicants,鈥 he stated.
The Minister was highly impressed about the foresight of the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni, Management and staff in envisaging the huge numbers expected because of government鈥檚 free SHS policy and taking up the challenge by being proactive about the situation.

鈥淚 am impressed with the number of fresh huge large hostels and lecture theatres about eight or so of them, each with the capacity of 500, with some paired up within the same vicinity and the near readiness of these hostels that are being put up. I am told that about 20% of the student body will live on campus,鈥漙 he said.
Prof. Yankah expressed satisfaction about the infrastructural developments on campus. He urged the contractors to endeavor to meet deadlines and not compromise on quality and standards in finishing on time.


There are 28 on-going projects on the four campuses of the UEW. Among the projects are constructions of Students Service Centre, Commercial Centre, University Hospital, Food Court, Lecture Blocks, Lecturers鈥 Offices, Market, GUSSS Hostel Site 1, 2 and 3; renovations of Printing Press, Brail Library, North Campus Assembly Hall; and conversion of Lecture Room to an ICT Library all at the University鈥檚 North Campus in Winneba. 聽聽聽
Other projects on the Central and South Campuses of Winneba include construction of Lecture Block, completion of a Technology Block and the renovation of Amu Theatre.
