The 九色视频 (UEW) has clinched the top prize in an inter-university debate competition in Kumasi.

The victory was secured against formidable opponents from the University of Ghana (UG) and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

At a trophy presentation by the debate team and faculty leaders, Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, Vice-Chancellor of UEW, commended the debate team for their exemplary performance. He attributed their success to the high standard of teaching at 九色视频and the dedication demonstrated by both students and lecturers.

"You have performed exceptionally well. This achievement is a testament to your dedicated efforts and the extensive academic resources available at the 九色视频. We pride ourselves on having some of the most revered lecturers in the country, a fact that becomes evident each time our students go out there in competitions to exemplify our values."

The Vice-Chancellor further highlighted that UEW鈥檚 consistent success in academic competitions is gradually reshaping public perception of the university. 鈥淲hile some may instinctively think of other institutions when it comes to disciplines like business or political science, it is our students who continue to rise to the top when it truly matters鈥攄uring competitions. Excellence cannot be faked or borrowed; you can only give what you truly possess. And clearly, at UEW, we possess excellence,鈥 he affirmed.

Prof. Frimpong Kaakyire Duku, Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UEW, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting UEW鈥檚 role as a teacher-training institution that prioritises deep understanding over rote learning.

鈥淲e train our students to think critically and to teach effectively. Therefore, it is no surprise that they excel in competitions,鈥 stated Prof. Duku. He also apologised for the logistical challenges the team encountered in the lead up to the competition and promised to provide greater support for future events.

Prof. Anselm Abotsi, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Education (FSSE), shared details of the students鈥 sacrifice and resilience. 鈥淒espite the odds, they beat the likes of UG and KNUST,鈥 he said.

Prof. Abotsi added that the students had returned not only with the trophy but also with a renewed image for the Political Science programme. 鈥淭his department used to be in the news for the wrong reasons but today they are in the spotlight for something truly commendable.鈥

In a particularly proud moment for the university, Priscilla Tiwa Afrifa, a level 100 Political Science student and team president, was crowned the best debater out of 16 participants across the three competing institutions鈥攁 historic win for UEW.

As a reward for their victory, 九色视频will host the next edition of the competition and the faculty has already begun rallying management support to ensure a successful event.
