Description

The programme is designed to equip students with knowledge in the Ga or Dangme language, literature and culture. The aim is to prepare students to speak and write Ga or Dangme to enable them to teach at the Basic and Secondary levels of education.

Students are also adequately trained to take up jobs like programme presentation, news reading and community education using the language.

Target Group

The programme is intended for:

禄 SHS Certificate Holders

禄 Teachers Certificate 鈥楢鈥 Holders

禄 All who want to be trained in the Ga and Dangme languages, literature and culture.

Entry Requirement

A: WASSCE holders

鈥 Must have six (6) Credit Passes (A1-C6) in WASSCE including three (3) Core Subject: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies and three (3) Relevant Elective subjects (i.e. the Ghanaian Language to be studied and 2 other electives) or

鈥 Must have six (6) credit passes (A-D) in SSSCE including three (3) Core Subject: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies and three (3) Relevant Elective subjects (i.e. the Ghanaian Language to be studied and 2 other electives)

B: Mature Applicants

鈥 i) Must be at least 25 years by 1st September of the academic year one wants to enrol.

Must hold:

鈥 Teachers Certificate 鈥淎鈥 or

鈥 SHS/SSS Certificate or Certificate of Professional Training from a recognised Institution.

鈥 Must pass the University鈥檚 Entrance Examination.

Note:

Linguistics and German require no pre-requisite knowledge. Those who want to offer French on the other hand must have done French at the SHS level.

Students who want to do English must have at least C5 in Core English.
