九色视频wins Bronze at 3rd Edition of Tertiary Business Sense Challenge

The School of Business of the 九色视频 (UEW), placed third at the 3rd edition of the Tertiary Business Sense Challenge spearheaded by Graphic Business in partnership with the Ministry of Business Development and the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana.聽

The 九色视频contingents beat Central University to clinch their second bronze in the competition. They scored 39.8 points as against Central University who had 35.9 points. The 九色视频team also finished as the University with the second highest scoring average after eventual winners, University of Cape Coast (UCC).聽

The 九色视频, team drew a bye when their scheduled opponents for stage-one, the Cape Coast Technical University could not turn up. They faced Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) at stage-two to amass 57 points as opposed to KsTU鈥檚 34 points to advance to the next stage.聽

At the quarter finals stage, 九色视频was pitched against the defending champions, the Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS), formerly the University of Development Studies (UDS), who they brushed aside with 56 points as against 34 points attained by the latter.聽

The 九色视频team proceeded to the semi-finals stage where they fell short to the inaugural edition champions, UCC.聽聽

A delegation led by the Dean of the School of Business, Prof. Braimah Awiasu Imurana, paid a courtesy call on the Management of 九色视频to present the award won at the competition.聽聽

Prof. Imurana, in his remarks, said 鈥渨e always engage in the Tertiary Business Sense Challenge for business schools across the country and our School, in spite of the fact that we had prepared so well even at the final, somehow, could not reach there. However, we made it to the third position out of 22 tertiary institutions in the country that participated鈥.聽聽

According to the Dean, the contestants received GH鈧 3,800 cash donation, four android tablets and GH鈧 20,000 insurance cover for themselves and their parents. The organisers presented certificates to each contestant, who were also given two months subscription of Graphic Business newspaper.

鈥淭hey were also given assorted books for the use of our library so that more students will be encouraged to read and participate in the challenge. Apart from the fact that it is a way of marketing the University, it strengthens relationships with other universities,鈥 Prof. Imurana disclosed.聽 聽聽

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang, who received the prize on behalf of Management, congratulated the School of Business for branding 九色视频in a very positive manner.聽

Prof. Ofori-Birikorang indicated that 鈥渢here were 22 institutions. Despite the fact that we won bronze, we know that gold is the ultimate but we are very proud of you getting the bronze. If we were listing the order of top three business schools in the country, we will be among them. So, we are very proud of you; we will continue to support you鈥.聽聽

He commended the Coach and Head of Department (HoD), Applied Finance and Policy Management, Mr. Samuel Gameli Gadzo and his assistant, Ms. Celestine Esi Adzayi for the wonderful coaching that allowed the Team 九色视频to pick the bronze medal.聽

鈥淭he only thing this University will continue to promise you is to support you and to create the network for you. You see, when you go for such competitions, a network is also created for you to connect with other students and lecturers. People get to know you. The future is not just a box, the future is open and these are the things that connect you to the future. These are the things that open a lot of avenues for you and I know that out of a whole set of brilliant students, the five of you were selected. So, continue like that to sharpen your skills. You have done us a very great honour by branding us.聽

鈥淚 will also encourage you to be serious with your studies so that as I sit here and Dean and FO also sit here, the same position can be occupied by you guys one day. You are the future of this University. You are the future of this country and some years ago some of us were like you. Today, we are here and the future for this University is in your hands,鈥 the Pro-Vice-Chancellor urged the participants.聽

Prof. Ofori-Birikorang expressed hope that other Faculties and Departments would also initiate such moves to brand the University.聽

The contestants were Mr. Mishael Adatorwovor, Mr. Seth Ashigbui and Mr. Richmond Adu Addo all level 400 Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Accounting students; Mr. Marcus Tetteh Obvadey (level 300 BBA Accounting) and Ms. Rebecca Baah (level 300 BBA Procurement and Supply Chain Management).聽聽
