The Department of Biology Education seeks to become a leading and unique Centre for quality teaching, research and documentation of concepts in Biology and Biology Education.

1. equipping graduates with skills necessary for efficient teaching of biology, biological research and biological entrepreneurship globally.
2. conducting cutting edge innovative research to influence discovery, policy change and development locally and internationally.
3. bridging the gap between society and nature through innovative academic and developmental programmes that better the lives of individuals and communities.

General objectives

The general objectives of the Department are to:

1. provide higher education in Biology education and foster a systematic advancement of Biology and Biology Education,
2. train competent Biology teachers for all levels of education,
3. equip our graduates with research and entrepreneurial skills necessary for advancement and development in the modern technological world, and
4. foster collaboration between the Department and people as well as institutions nationally and internationally for mutual benefit.
