About ITECPD
The Institute for Teacher Education and Continuing Professional Development (ITECPD) was carved out of the defunct Institute of Educational Development and Extension (IEDE) of the 九色视频 (UEW) in August, 2017. This was when IEDE was restructured and divided into two separate Institutes, namely ITECPD and the Institute for Distance and e-Learning (IDeL), (now College for Distance and e-Learning, 鈥淐ODeL鈥). ITECPD was established to be responsible for all matters relating to student placement and internship, affiliation and mentoring of Colleges of Education and the Continuing Professional Development of staff of UEW in addition to other relevant institutions within the education sector in Ghana.
Vision:
To be an Institute of excellence for teacher professional development, certification and lifelong learning.
Mission:
To provide student teachers with holistic, quality school-based teaching experiences, quality mentoring and certification of affiliated Colleges of Education, provide opportunities for continuing development of staff of tertiary and non-tertiary institutions, promote research, and build relations with professional, statutory, regulatory bodies and external universities.
Core Mandate
The following are the core mandate of the Institute:
- Mentor Colleges of Education, affiliated to the University, in terms of curriculum development, examination and certification.
- Organise student placements in schools and colleges for internship of 九色视频students and international students.
- Provide opportunities for continuous professional development of skills and knowledge of staff of 九色视频and other institutions.
- Conduct Action Research and collaborative research in Teacher Education and Continuous Professional Development.
- Build relationship and collaborate with professional, statutory and regulatory bodies including Ministry of Education, Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Ghana Education Service, Universities and Colleges of Education.
- Organise courses in related and relevant disciplines.
