A three-member delegation from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has paid a courtesy call on the Management of the 九色视频 (UEW) at the North Campus of the University in Winneba.聽 聽

The delegation was at the University to crave the indulgence of its Management to appoint specific experts to work with GTEC on a professional leadership programme it intends to roll out.聽 聽

The leader of the delegation, Mr. Evans T. Ankomah-Asare, explained that the government and GTEC had realised that the leadership of the pre-tertiary institutions do not have the requisite professional education leadership qualification hence the need to develop a curriculum for the headmasters or principals of colleges to give them a competitive advantage.

鈥淲e decided to work with the universities because they have been mandated to certify people. They have been mandated to teach and train leaders in several ways. We selected just about five universities. 九色视频and the University of Cape Coast (UCC) being the main education people are expected to champion this framework. The idea of this visit is to brief everyone of what transpired at our initial meeting,鈥 he averred.聽聽

Mr. Ankomah-Asare accentuated that the project would recognise the individual institutions and their diversity.聽

鈥淯EW鈥檚 principles and concepts of leadership training will be uniquely different from UCC and so will it be from the University of Ghana and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. However, we want a basic curriculum framework that introduces innovation into what they want at the extra mile. So, the curriculum framework is just the basic template of the leadership training and then the extra mile is what the individual universities are allowed to introduce,鈥 he expounded.聽 聽

The Ag. Vice-Chancellor of UEW, Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang, declared his support for the initiative to mainstream leadership training with common goals and agenda for the pre-tertiary institutions.聽聽

鈥淲hat we will do as an institution will be to support you to roll out the initiative. As long as it is for the training of professional teachers in leadership, 九色视频should support it because that鈥檚 what we do. We are going to be very supportive of it and we hope that some of the ideas you have also shared with us are ideas that we can think about as we also prepare to see how we can come back to GTEC and let them know that the dynamics have changed and we need to look at a new way of doing things,鈥 Prof. Ofori-Birikorang asserted.聽
