Others were eight litter pick sticks, two plastic slated bath boards, two-seat cushions, three hoists, three contoured advance seats, eight re-turn 7500, five bags containing physio items, three bed sheets and five inflatable beds.    

Receiving the items, the Vice-Chancellor, ��ɫ��Ƶ (UEW), Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni, expressed Management’s deepest gratitude to the donors for the show of genuine concern and love for UEW. 

“I can only say that these items will go to enhance the work of this hospital which is very immense. I never cease to take the least opportunity I get to say a very big thank you to the team in this hospital for the great things they do to save lives and to keep us in good shape,” he said. 

Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni hinted that the Management of the University would commission the newly built 100-bed ��ɫ��ƵHospital within the next month or two by which time Management would be in a position to announce to the general public the particular area REACT Humanitarian Network had adopted.   

“We are very grateful. These items will enhance the smooth running of the hospital. It’s also good to know that you want to even go further by providing us with teaching and learning materials. Indeed, we are together helping to make life better for our nation. Thank you once again for coming and may God bless your works,” he stated. 

The Head, University Relations Office and Media, Dr. Obaapanin Oforiwaa Adu, who welcomed the visitors on behalf of the Registrar, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima Esq., indicated that “the rationale for the donation to the University Clinic, was especially for the users of the facility with special needs so that we could promote our inclusive policy in the University and also broaden our scope in bringing on board other physically challenged people who would want to access University facilities”.

The Country Representative for REACT, Mr. Duke Banson, who presented the items to the University Clinic on behalf of the founder of REACT, Mr. Prince Osei Akowuah, pointed out that the network has a primary aim of making education accessible to Ghanaian special needs children suffering from ill-health, financial hardships or other disadvantages. “At REACT we believe education is the best option for the special needs children because it acts as a lasting enabler in whatever circumstance. In the long term, REACT will engage with you to adopt a ward which can be a channel of support and sustainable collaboration between our two institutions.”  

Mr. Banson called on other benevolent entities to emulate this kind gesture to uplift the healthcare standards in many communities of the country.
