Female staff and student leaders in the 九色视频 (UEW) have been entreated to go for activity-oriented work that is more visible, accept critical responsibilities, take up heavily packed assignments that lead to promotions and market themselves to the top.聽

They were encouraged to go after what they had aspired for in their careers and urged never to give up on such aspirations. They were also implored to hone the skills necessary to give them those opportunities, such as their communication skills, leadership development and emotional intelligence; eschew negative thoughts, be aware of their environment and move on anyway.聽

The advice was given by the Director of Quality Assurance, Prof. Emmanuel Obed Acquah on Wednesday, 11th August, 2021, at the North Campus Assembly Hall during phase two of the leadership seminar organised by the Gender Mainstreaming Directorate for female student leaders, students and staff in the UEW.聽

Prof. Acquah, who chaired the seminar on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni, recommended attendees go for competent females as exemplary authority leaders to occupy decision making positions to change the dominant cultural norms and perceptions of the society that deem the world of professionals and leadership a man鈥檚 world.聽

鈥淲e have to aspire to bridge the leadership gap and create more spaces for females. We hope to achieve balance in the leadership circles one day. Our University is doing so much to increase the visibility of females in leadership circles. We have equal representation of females and males at the Deanship levels and several women serving as Heads of Department in recent appointments,鈥 he affirmed.聽聽

The Director of Quality Assurance indicated that the world鈥檚 most prominent women leaders exhibit the importance of honesty, courage, impact and decisive action in leadership. 鈥淵ou need to assist other women and guide them into the way of success. Share your stories with them because women leaders are known for inspiring and helping their colleagues to appreciate the trajectory of their successes.鈥澛

Prof. Acquah tasked participants to let their mission in 九色视频or anywhere they find themselves not merely be to survive but to thrive, and to do so with some passion, compassion, humour and style.聽

The Ag. Director of Health Services, Dr. (Mrs.) Beth Offei-Awuku, who was the lead presenter and only facilitator for the seminar, recounted her journey to leadership.聽

There was massive patronage of the event as the venue was filled. Also, about 15 people participated online via Zoom.聽
