Overview
Profile of the Department
Ìý
The Department of Procurement and Supply Chain Management is housed within the School of Business Building Complex located at the South Campus of the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ. The Department was established to cater for the growing numbers of prospective students, yearning for various qualifications in this field of study. A feasibility study conducted by the Department identified a knowledge gap in the field of Procurement and Supply Chain Management, hence, the urgent need to establish the Department. The knowledge gap in many cases resulted from a direct outcome of ineffective governance policies and procedures or a lack of the appropriate Procurement and Supply Chain expertise in decision-making, and inadequate manpower availability. This undoubtedly led to organizations failing to make effective procurement and supply chain decisions, i.e., by not fully leveraging their spend and economies of scale and exposing themselves to business and commercial risks. The Department’s vision is to educate and train procurement practitioners relevant for economic development locally and internationally. Our mission is to harness best practices in Procurement and Supply Chain Management in the training of practitioners to contribute to national development.
